Some of Our Favorites Things to Do in South Lake Tahoe —
Gunbarrel Tavern
Be sure to stop by Gunbarrel Taver while out and about. Located in Heavenly Village, this great eatery offers alfresco dinning and live music. The outdoor fire pits keep guests warm and cozy in the cold winter months.
Hit up the Barre
Don't skip your Barre class just because you're up in the mountains. We love this cute little studio, found just off highway 50 in the center of town. Be sure to book ahead of time!
Kirkwood
Kirkwood is worth the trek! By far one of the best ski resorts in the Sierra Nevadas. Kirkwood offers terrain for all levels of skiers and snowboarders. It tends to be less crowded and more of a local resort than the neighboring ski runs.
Hike Fallen Leaf Lake
We highly recommend you and yours take a summertime hike out by Fallen Leaf Lake. The drive is stunning and the lake is serene. Hike to the falls, or enjoy a dip in the water.
Pho Vietnamese
Warm up with a yummy bowl of pho, or nosh on a shaking beef salad and springs rolls. Either way, if you're craving Vietnamese food, be sure to hit up this favorite spot.
Riva Grill
The Riva Grill is a Tahoe staple. The restaurant is pricier than some of the other dining spots in South Lake but the lake front views and the fact they graciously accommodate kids makes the experience (and cost) worth while.
Burger Lounge
Check out the burger lounge for a variety of super yummy burgers.
Berts
Looking for a great breakfast spot? Stop by Berts in South Lake for the best Huevos Rancheros in South Lake. Fill up before you hit the hills!
Golf
We would argue that one of the most beautiful golf courses in the world is Edgewood in South Lake Tahoe. It's more pricey than our the average round of golf, but well worth it. If Edgewood is out of your price range, Lake Tahoe Golf is another great, more affordable option.
Emerald Bay
Take a drive to Emerald Bay and enjoy the breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe and the historical Emerald Bay castle.
Did someone say, Poker?
The action at Harvey's casino keeps us coming back to their poker room. You don't have to be the next champ of the world series of poker to be welcomed to these tables.
Take a Dip in Crystal Clear Water
Camp Richardson Beach is a great public accessible beach where you can spend the day with family and friends. Don't miss out on the ice cream shop as you enter the park. Waiting in line is well worth it on a warm day!
Got kids and don’t mind a 45 minute drive? Head north up to Kings Beach for the day where the water is shallow and the ice cream is plentiful! Stop in Sands Harbor on the way home for a breathtaking sunset!
Izabella Ristorante Italiano
Late night dining, good service and delicious food. From one Italian to another, we think this is some of the best Italian food since Noni.
